The Adventure Trail at Glen Dye
This is an exciting chance to get outdoors and experience the woodlands of the estate. There are beautiful things to find and see along the way, and once you have found them all you can collect your well-earned badge from the Seed Store.
The Adventure Trail is free for all guests staying with us at Glen Dye. The trail can be tricky at certain points, so we don’t recommend this if you aren’t completely steady on your feet.
Along the trail, there are several way finder points for you to discover including:
- A ‘hidden’ tunnel to crawl through.
- A mirror maze.
- The spider’s web!
- A joyous and colourful cairn built using stones from an ancient stone dyke and painted by the artist Gail Bryson.
- Wildcats.
- And much more…
The Trail
Follow the pink way markers over the lade (mill stream) which will guide you around our mile-long Adventure Trail.
Along the way, you’ll find natural obstacles to test your balancing and climbing skills. If you find them all, you can pop over to the Seed Store to collect your celebratory badge.
Trail Points
Along the trail there are several way finder points for you to find.
- A tipi frame made using fallen branches gathered from the surrounding woodland.
- A ‘hidden’ tunnel to crawl through. You don’t need us to tell you what to do here, but all ages are encouraged to have a go.
- Have a seat on the bench and see what you can see around you (while you catch your breath). Look up and see if you can see any clouds.
- A mirror maze to see the beautiful reflections of the surroundings.
- The spider’s web to test your scrambling skills.
- A cairn built by our fabulous team and painted by artist Gail Bryson using seasonal colours of Glen Dye.
- How many cats can you find hiding in the trees at Wild Cat Woods?
- Take a moment to take in the forest sounds on the bench.
- Finally, spot the life-sized outlines of a red stag and hind. There are four species found in Scotland: red, roe, fallow and sika, but only red and roe are native.

We host the very best corporate events at Glen Dye, from half days out of the office to entire weeks away from HQ. If you’re interested in bringing your team here we can tailor a session at the Discovery and Adventure Centre or Adventure Trail to you. We can create experiences to suit teams of between 2 and 40 people.
