Your Instructors

Sandy Kenneway is a total expert in the world of drinks, with decades of experience and deep knowledge, from managing Scotland’s largest wine shop to helping with the opening of Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh and striking out with his own businesses 10 years ago. As well as the specific tastings with whisky & cheese, we can also arrange a simple whisky tasting, a locally crafted gin tasting, or a bespoke cocktail tasting with Sandy.

He is passionate about promoting Scotland’s amazing whiskies – with gins, cocktails, rums, beers and all other things fermented close behind. Sandy hosts fun, informative tasting events across Britain, including his hugely popular workshops at Glen Dye and in Hawarden at Summer Camp and The Good Life Experience.

Rachel Sedgwick, Audrey Dykes and Caroline Gladstone are crucial members of Team Glen Dye. Rachel is Estate Manager, Audrey is Head of Guest Experience and Caroline is co-founder. Together they have been formally trained to give you a great appreciation of whisky, with genuine passion, warmth and lightheartedness.

Affectionately dubbed The Dram Queens, with these three, you will learn about the history of whisky, steeped in legend, folklore and fun facts from Caroline. From Rachel, you will learn all about how whisky is made from the types of barley and yeast chosen, to the mash, the shape of the still and Lyne arm; the different casks used for maturing. From Audrey, you will learn the sensory appreciation of whisky, starting with a smell test, and progressing to tasting and learning to express what you taste. We will talk about food pairing and seasonality too.

Bespoke Tasting Experience

As well as a simple whisky tasting, we can also arrange a whisky and cheese tasting, a locally crafted gin tasting, a more traditional wine tasting or a bespoke cocktail making and tasting with Sandy or smaller tasting sessions for 2-6 guests with Rachel, Audrey and Caroline.
