Fishing on the Water of Feugh

Salmon & Sea Trout Fishing at Glen Dye

Come and enjoy the Scottish salmon fishing season beginning on 1st February, running until 30th September.

The salmon fishing season opens on February 1st and finishes on September 30th each year. The Water of Feugh is a perfect fly fishing stretch of water with beautiful boulder-strewn clear water pools that ebb and flow down through tantalising glides and fast-water rapids throughout its entire length.

When the waters open in February it is very common for spring salmon to be caught. There are also sea trout and brown trout. An excellent place to fish in the most beautiful surroundings, we are very happy to be sharing this and making it available to all guests who stay with us at Glen Dye.

This beautiful Scottish fly-fishing salmon waters have to be experienced to really be appreciated. The area is private so you won’t have to compete for your catch. Fishing here will soon evoke an inner passion that will last a lifetime.

The Water of the Feugh is perfect for fly fishing and the highly popular Spring salmon flies are the Dee Monkey and the deadly Park Shrimp works well too in the early months. Both should be tied on copper tubes to take them down a little bit in the cold higher Spring water conditions. During late Spring when the water warms move onto single or double-hook versions.

Five important things to note:

  • There is no charge for this experience, you just need to book.
  • A vehicle will be required to get you to and from the river.
  • Strictly catch and release.
  • Spend the day enjoying what the Water of Feugh has to offer!
  • We can organise a guide for a half day or a whole day if you’d like instruction or insider knowledge about which the best pools to fish are. We can also help you hire any equipment you might need to make the most of your day on the river. Please contact us via the form on this page to enquire.
