Description

This is the real thing, made using premium lambswool that’s dyed and spun in Scotland with environmentally friendly dyes.

The design is at once ancient and modern and there is a lovely weight and feel to the throw. These things make a difference, imbuing the throw with real soul and character.

We’ve commissioned a small run to be shared between the properties at Glen Dye and on our sister estate, Hawarden, in North Wales. We also have a small number for sale right here.

99cm x 175cm

About Hilary Grant

A textile design studio -and as of 2023, a knitwear factory- based on the northerly Scottish islands of Orkney, specialising in original knitted pattern, with an intuitive, exploratory approach to colour.

The venture is a partnership between Hilary Grant and Robbie Harvey, with a background and training in Textile Design and Architecture. They share a Humanist and intuitive approach to design.

Their blankets, bed-throws, scarves and pom hats are all knitted in Orkney, on their new, state of the art Shima Seiki knitting machine, and finished using hand-intensive traditional methods.

They use a superfine, woollen-spun premium lambswool which is dyed and spun in Scotland. “Our yarns are made from the finest grade lambswool fibres available, sourced only from farms with very high animal welfare standards and progressive land management practices. These yarns are guaranteed to be mulesing-free and are certified RWS (Responsible Wool Standard).

The mill which produces our yarns is on the banks of Loch Leven in Kinross. They use environmentally friendly dyes, so the water which they draw from Loch Leven can be completely cleaned and returned to the loch, once dyeing is complete.
This is reflected in the feel and longevity of our knitwear – yarns aren’t over processed, and gentle dyes mean that our yarns retain their suppleness and all the incredible properties which make wool warm, luxurious and practical.”
