Christmas at Glen Dye

We can’t guarantee a White Christmas, although they do happen a lot at Glen Dye! But, what we can guarantee for all guests staying with us at Christmas this year:

  • A fully decorated Christmas Tree, grown by us on the estate.
  • A fully made wreath.
  • A free sauna and cold dip session.
  • A hamper of our own goodies, worth £100.
  • Tickets to a festive family favourite in our cinema, plus hot chocolate, mulled white wine, marshmallows for the fire and popcorn.

We only have a couple of properties remaining for Christmas, and we’re full for New Year’s Eve. There really is nowhere better to spend Christmas.

Walk The Adventure Trail

Follow the pink way markers over the lade (mill stream) which will guide you around our mile-long Adventure Trail.

Along the way, you’ll find natural obstacles to test your balancing and climbing skills. If you find them all, you can pop over to the Seed Store to collect your celebratory badge.

Trail Points

Along the trail there are several way finder points for you to find.

  • A tipi frame made using fallen branches gathered from the surrounding woodland.
  • A ‘hidden’ tunnel to crawl through. You don’t need us to tell you what to do here, but all ages are encouraged to have a go.
  • Have a seat on the bench and see what you can see around you (while you catch your breath). Look up and see if you can see any clouds.
  • A mirror maze to see the beautiful reflections of the surroundings.
  • The spider’s web to test your scrambling skills.
  • A cairn built by our fabulous team and painted by artist Gail Bryson using seasonal colours of Glen Dye.
  • How many cats can you find hiding in the trees at Wild Cat Woods?
  • Take a moment to take in the forest sounds on the bench.
  • Finally, spot the life-sized outlines of a red stag and hind. There are four species found in Scotland: red, roe, fallow and sika, but only red and roe are native.

Walks at Glen Dye

The Scottish Highlands are known for their mountains, glens, deep lochs and ancient woods. It is a beautiful place and one that begs to be explored.

Glen Dye cabins and cottages are situated in a prime position for embracing the outdoors. Entirely enveloped by forest and rolling hills, there are a number of different hiking routes from the doorstep. Here we have shared a handful of our favourites.

These walks vary in levels and range from short to long routes, with some being challenging, others not so challenging, but all equally as enjoyable.

We want you to build great memories here at Glen Dye.

A nature retreat for the modern age

Glen Dye is the perfect setting for a holistic wilderness venture. With 15,000 acres of woodland, hill, moor and river, there’s forest bathing, tree-hugging, hiking and cold water therapy, aka wild swimming, on the doorstep. – Lucy Gillmore for National Geographic
